Set aside some time every evening for reading as a family. By reading newspapers, magazines, how to manuals, books, comics, graphic novels, maps, cookbooks and e-books, we build a culture of literacy. If Mom and Dad are reading for information and enjoyment, our children will see reading as a part of life. Never stop reading to your child. Everyone loves to hear a good story and you are modeling fluency, expression, and a love of language. Think out loud when you read. Does this make sense? Do you agree? What does that word mean?
